Brian Jagde sings the role of the Prince in Dvořák’s Rusalka this season at Houston Grand Opera, in his company debut. Mr. Jagde previously performed the role with Opera San Antonio in 2014, to great acclaim:

“Mr. Jagde’s warm, satin-smooth core voice was lovely, but he also showed some dramatic possibilities at full voice, when a steely edge and a shower of bright overtones emerged … this clearly is a tenor worth watching.” (Incidentlight.com)

Jagde reunites with soprano Ana María Martínez in the title role (both were seen together last season at Royal Opera in ‘Madama Butterfly’), with Richard Paul Fink as Vodnik, Jill Grove as Ježibaba, and Maida Hundeling sings the Foreign Princess. Maestro Harry Bicket leads the HGO Orchestra for this Melly Still-created staging, with performances on January 29 & 31 and February 6, 9 & 12.
