Tosca at Santa Fe Opera

Brian Jagde, will sing the role of Cavaradossi in Tosca, the opening production of The Santa Fe Opera’s 56th season on Friday, June 29.  This marks Mr. Jagde’s company debut and his debut in the role.  He is scheduled to appear in the role with San Francisco Opera in November and with Deutsche Oper Berlin in 2013.  A lyric tenor, Mr. Jagde was a prize winner in Placido Domingo’s Operalia Competition held earlier this month in Beijing.

Mr. Jagde was a member of San Francisco Opera’s Merola Opera Program and this fall will be in his third year as a Fellow in the prestigious Adler Program.  He has appeared on San Francisco’s mainstage in productions including Girl of the Golden West, The Makropulos Case opposite Karita Mattila, and in Lucrezia Borgia with Renee Fleming.  His repertory includes Pinkerton in Madame Butterfly, Rodolfo in La Boheme, and the title role in Werther, with which he made his European debut at Teatr Wielki Poznan in Poland.  Don Jose in Carmen and Count Elemer in Arabella are also among his repertory.  He has appeared with the Minnesota Opera, Syracuse Opera, Virginia Opera, Lorin Maazel’s Castleton Festival, Opera New Jersey, Chautauqua Opera, Opera Company of the Highlands and Des Moines Metro Opera.

Mr. Jagde holds Bachelor and Master of Music Degrees in Voice and Opera Studies from Purchase College Conservatory of Music.
