Lisa Mandelstein of Katherine Delmar Burke School is the winner of the video contest on Facebook! Ms. Mandelstein will attend Tosca at San Francisco Opera and enjoy dinner before the show at Jardinière on November 24. Ms. Mandelstein was nominated by her student Mimi Sharon, whose video captured Brian’s heart (http://vimeo.com/51691875#). Additional nominees included Jerry Pannone from Ruth Asawa School of the Arts, and Kevin Fox from Pacific Boychoir Academy.

About Lisa

Lisa Mandelstein, a veteran K-8 music specialist with over twenty-eight years of experience, is currently in her fourteenth year teaching K-4 music at Burke’s School for Girls in San Francisco. She holds B.M.E. degrees in Music Education and Music Therapy from the University of Kansas, Orff Certification through the University of Northern Colorado, and two levels of Kodály training through Holy Names College.

Ms. Mandelstein is a past President of the Northern California Chapter of the American Orff Schulwerk Association (NCAOSA), with many years of board service. She has led numerous workshops for classroom and music teachers, and currently serves as the Curriculum Chair for the music department at Burke’s School, as well as the Fine Arts Chair for the California Association of Independent Schools (CAIS).

Ms. Mandelstein has received innovative curriculum awards and specializes in the integration of social studies and children’s literature with Orff Schulwerk processes. As a songwriter, her material for children has been published and performed worldwide. Additionally, Ms. Mandelstein is an award winning singer-songwriter who performs locally in the Bay Area and along the west coast.
