This season, Brian Jagde revisits the role of Bacchus in Strauss’ Ariadne of Naxos for his house debut at Palm Beach Opera. Mr. Jagde received tremendous critical acclaim for his debut in the role last fall at Minnesota Opera:

“In a class of his own was tenor Brian Jagde (Bacchus) who … put his jaw-dropping instrument to stirring use; together with Wagner, he made Strauss’s apotheosis unforgettable.” (Opera News)

“Many tenors have fallen short singing this difficult music, but not Brian Jagde who sang Bacchus Saturday night with stupendous stamina, tonal heft and affecting lyricism.” (Star Tribune)

“Brian Jagde as the tenor sings with godlike gusto as Ariadne’s would-be lover Bacchus.” (Examiner.com)

PBO performances take place March 18 & 20, and feature Wendy Bryn Harmer in the title role, Irene Roberts as the Komponist, and Kathleen Kim as Zerbinetta. Conductor Andreas Delfs leads the Palm Beach Opera Orchestra, for this Daniel Witzke staged production.
