This summer Brian Jagde sings his signature role, Cavaradossi in Puccini’s Tosca, in his greatly anticipated return to Napoli’s Teatro di San Carlo. Jagde starred as Don José in a new production of Bizet’s Carmen at the theater in 2015, conducted by Zubin Mehta, and returns to the historic stage alongside Ainoha Arteta in the title role, and Roberto Frontali as Scarpia. Performances take place July 12, 15, 18, 22 & 24, conducted by Juraj Valčuha with stage direction by Mario Pontiggia.

“… Brian Jagde’s handsome, clarion-toned Cavaradossi. The tenor won audience approval from the initial phrases of “Recondita armonia,” which were lyrically dispatched without the bellowing so often heard … Jagde produced an impressive flood of ringing sound that appeared to be produced well within his means without spreading under pressure above the staff.” (Opera News)
